Our faith
Holy Orthodoxy
At the heart of Eastern Orthodoxy is the belief in the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Orthodox Church upholds the ancient Nicene Creed, which encapsulates the essential beliefs of the Christian faith.
This belief is lived out through the Church’s divine worship, which is centered around the Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ. The Orthodox liturgy is rich with sacred hymns, prayers, and the beauty of icons, which serve as windows into the heavenly realm and help the faithful connect with God.
The Eastern Orthodox Church places great importance on the concept of Holy Tradition, which includes not only the written Scriptures but also the teachings of the Church Fathers, the ecumenical councils, and the practices of the early Church. This Tradition is understood as the living faith of the Church, passed down through the centuries by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Orthodox Christians believe that salvation is a process of healing and transformation, known as theosis, through which a person becomes more united with God. This journey is nurtured through the sacraments, prayer, repentance, and acts of love and service. The Church is also a community of believers, united in faith and love, and it offers support and fellowship to those who seek to grow in their relationship with Christ.
With a global presence, the Eastern Orthodox Church maintains a deep sense of continuity with its early roots, while also engaging with the modern world. The Orthodox faith is not just a set of doctrines but a way of life that invites all people to experience the peace, joy, and hope that come from knowing Christ. Whether in times of joy or sorrow, the Church stands as a steadfast source of comfort, guidance, and strength, pointing all believers toward eternal life with God.
